“Syria Day” Live Blog No. 9 (English)

Source: Wikipedia.

Call it the Hope Index.  Actually, that turns the concept of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists on its head, because they call it the Doomsday Clock.  But, we Christians are a hopeful kind.  In the iconic, Cold War era metaphor, the closer the Doomsday Clock is to midnight, the closer the world is to global disaster.  In the chart above, the low points are doom and the high points are retreats from edge of doom.  Hence, our moniker for it: the Hope Index.  As you can see, Hope has taken a historic dive in the last few years, showing perhaps how justified Pope Francis is in asking us to fast and pray for world peace.
